Year in Review
It’s a Tuesday. It’s raining. I feel like I haven’t stopped moving or eating since last Tuesday morning. Kevin just left. He set up my mom’s new Wii; he gave my parents six free months of Netflix for Christmas. Sometimes I’m like, is this my boyfriend? Or just a cyborg sent to dramatically heighten my expectations of the human race. I’m not hungry but I’m sitting at this dining room table in New Jersey in front of sixteen (16!!!) containers of cookies, and just what am I supposed to do, world? What am I supposed to do? I’m happy. This year I had a story published in a book; I went to Ireland and Scotland and England; I spent most of my time with the world’s sweetest cyborg. Next year I become a master of the fine arts; I find some way to make money, maybe a new place to live. Cyborg at my side. Just now I got up and looked in the fridge and then said to myself, “Don’t eat anything; what’s the matter with you?” Out loud. Thanks for everything, 2011.
