Q: What are you working on now?
A: A new collection of stories and, very slowly, on a novel set in the Dust Bowl. I’m telling people it’s another whimsical tale of ecological devastation. My sister says, “Oh, my God, you should just call that thing Drylandia.”
And I thought recently: I want to call it The Land: It’s Just Not That Into You. Those farmers cannot take a hint.
It should come as a surprise to no one that I love Karen Russell.
